Required: tickets to destination country, visa for destination (if required), passport. Not needed for airport transit without leaving the international zone (up to 24 hours).

The applicant does not receive a paper document — the invitation arrives at the consulate electronically. Processing time: 5–14 business days.

Travel Insurance

V

Visa

Visa-Free Regime

A visa-free regime is an agreement between countries allowing citizens to enter without a visa for a specified period. Russia has visa-free agreements with 60+ countries (Brazil, Argentina, Israel, South Korea, etc.). Visa-free stay is usually 30–90 days. A visa is still required for longer stays.

Visa Application Form

A visa application form is a standard form for applying for a Russian visa. Filled out online at visa.kdmid.ru (for most consulates). Contains: personal data, passport details, purpose of trip, itinerary, hosting party information. Printed, signed, and submitted with a photo.

Visa Validity

Visa validity is the period during which a visa allows entry to Russia. It differs from the duration of stay: a visa may be valid for 30 days, but the stay is limited to 14 days. Entry must occur before the validity expires. After expiration, the visa is automatically cancelled.

Visa Extension

Visa extension is a procedure to increase the stay period in Russia without leaving the country. Available in exceptional cases: illness, force majeure, contract extension (for work visas). Processed through the local migration office (GUVM MVD). Tourist visas cannot be extended.
