Types of Russian Visas

The Russian Federation issues several types of visas to foreign citizens depending on the purpose of their visit. Each visa type has its own requirements, validity period, and conditions of stay.

Tourist Visa — issued for tourism and sightseeing. Maximum duration is 30 days with single or double entry. A tourist voucher is required.

Business Visa — for business trips, negotiations, conferences, and exhibitions. Can be single-entry (up to 90 days), double-entry, or multiple-entry (up to 1 year). A business invitation is required.

Work Visa — for employment in Russia. Issued for the duration of the employment contract. Requires a work permit and invitation from the employer.

Student Visa — for studying at Russian educational institutions. Issued for the duration of studies. Requires an invitation from the educational institution.

Transit Visa — for passing through Russian territory. Issued for up to 10 days. Requires confirmation of the transit route.

Private (Guest) Visa — for visiting relatives or friends. Issued for up to 90 days. Requires an invitation from a Russian citizen processed through the MVD.
